Why not, this year, step out of London to discover the English countryside.
Even if London offers a myriad of things to do, it is sometimes pleasant to escape, for a day or a weekend, to discover or rediscover the country that hosts us.
Discover the Cotswolds, a picturesque region in the west of England that you cannot help but fall in love with.
2 hours from London, a peaceful countryside, a hilly landscape and typical villages with honey-coloured stones will welcome you for a quintessential change of scenery. There is a long list of villages…Chipping Camden, Stow-on-the Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Broadway are all a good introduction to the region!
Attracted to the seaside? Whitstable is the perfect destination! A small typical fishing village with its local pub where you can enjoy good fish and chips and colourful huts as far as the eye can see on a large sandy beach… England also offers a seaside that will surprise you.
Source of inspiration for your next escapade is the National Trust. Founded in 1895, it is a heritage conservation charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It brings together historic properties in often preserved places, combining culture and nature for a total change of scenery. If you happen not to have a car, you can rent one on various platforms: Virtuo, Zipcar or even Getaround which is a private car rental site.
This year, let’s inject a bit more sport and culture.
Getting back into shape, looking after yourself, clearing your head, decompressing: so many good reasons to return to sport. When did you last go and see a musical?
There are the great classics such as “Mama Mia”, “Lion King”, “Matilda” or “The Book of Mormon” but you may also opt for newer shows.
Take a look at the London Theatre website which lists all the shows running, and make your choice. You will find yourself at the heart of a lively London where the nightlife is bubbling. Why not finish off the evening by enjoying some dim sum in China Town ?
Do you want to get involved in charities and volunteer time for others?
Opportunities are everywhere! The website Charity Choice will list all the volunteering projects: from regular to occasional, offering varied tasks and fields, just select your criteria and get involved in an enriching human experience.
There are also many charity shops in London (Oxfam, Octavia Foundation, Cancer Research…) requiring volunteers. Why not give them a little bit of your time?
